Payroll & Accounting Officer
Job Description:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing and support accounting functions in compliance with PNG labour and taxation laws and to carry out a range of duties in support of:
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and managing end-to-end payroll for over 200 employees in accordance with PNG labour laws and tax regulations.
- Preparing and reconciling payroll using Attache and Xero systems.
- Calculating and processing overtime, superannuation, PAYE, NPF, and other statutory deductions.
- Maintaining accurate general ledger accounts and processing accounts payable and receivable.
- Assisting with monthly financial reporting, reconciliations, and external audits.
- Ensuring compliance with the Employment Act, Income Tax Act, and NPF Act, including timely lodgment of taxes and returns.
- Liaising with the Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) and external auditors regarding payroll and compliance matters.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and data integrity in handling all employee and financial information.
- Providing support and advice to staff on payroll queries and entitlements.
- Understanding salary sacrifices policy/guideline and taxable benefits
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting
- Current CPA PNG Membership
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll and accounting roles.
- Sound knowledge of PNG employment and taxation legislation.
- Proficiency in Attache, Xero, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
