Job Description:

Work Scope

Execution of maintenance tasks of instrumentation and control systems, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. Systems covered include:

  • Distributed Control System (DCS)
  • Process Control System (PCS)
  • Safety Integrated System (SIS)
  • Emergency Shutdown System (ESDS)
  • Fire and Gas Detection System
  • Process and product sales measurement
  • Program logic control systems, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute field maintenance work at the facility as directed by the Maintenance Instrument Lead and Supervisor
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Work Management System and Life Saving Actions
  • Identify and eliminate barriers to effective work execution; escalate improvement opportunities and liaise with the Maintenance Instrument Lead, Supervisor(s), and Ops-Tech Engineer(s) to remove non-value-added work from PM schedule and task lists
  • Keep IPES up to date with work performed, technical reports, and accurate time recording
  • Comply with company requirements including CIMS, OIMS, FIMS, MOC, and Incident Management
  • Keep the Maintenance Instrument Lead and Supervisor informed of work progress and issues; provide general support to Craft Supervisors and Maintenance Superintendent
  • Promote teamwork across Maintenance, Asset, and support functions (Ops-Tech, Procurement, Safety)
  • Support Emergency Response activities as required
  • Support Planners in ensuring work packs meet execution requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Grade 12 secondary education or equivalent certificate, preferably enhanced by technical school and/or university courses
  • 7 or more years of experience in Oil and Gas Production/Operations or a similar industry, with emphasis on maintenance and troubleshooting of field instrumentation and process and safety control systems associated with facility processing, utility support equipment, and turbine package equipment

Technical Skills

  • Good understanding of company safety processes, including incident management
  • Competent user of the Work Management System
  • Good understanding of all aspects of production, wellheads, gas/liquid processing, and pipeline facilities — with strong emphasis on LNG processing
  • Excellent fault-finding skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of:
    • Electronic process and safety shutdown control systems (Honeywell, Fisher, etc.)
    • Fire and Gas Detection Systems
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic wellhead and process control panels
    • Local panel Program Logic Control Systems
    • Turbine control for power generation and compression (Solar and General Electric)
    • Honeywell Fire and Gas Detection
  • Good understanding of gas/liquid measurement and analytical measurement devices
  • Good understanding of turbine-driven package units and OEM/Vendor PLC systems
  • Competent user of P&IDs, loop diagrams, DCS/PLC logic diagrams, and other instrumentation and control drawings
  • Competent user of the IPES Computerised Maintenance Management System
