Electrical Technician (Level 3)
Job Description:
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems within LNG facility. This includes a wide range of equipment like generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and control systems. The technician ensures the safe and reliable operation of these systems, adhering to safety protocols and contributing to the overall efficiency of the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of electrical equipment, diagnosing faults, and performing necessary repairs.
- Identifying the root cause of electrical issues and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Participating in electrical system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities, potentially as a project leader.
- Adhering to strict safety procedures and protocols, including identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance, as well as preparing reports on work carried out.
- Working closely with other technicians, engineers, and operations staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient maintenance planning.
- Participating in initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and safety, contributing to the overall performance of the plant.
- Occasionally providing training and guidance to other technicians and addressing operators' concerns.
Specific Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using specialized tools and equipment.
- A thorough understanding of safety procedures and practices related to electrical work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders.
- Experience with equipment like generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, control systems, and protective relays.
Relevant Qualifications:
Level 3 Technician: a minimum of 10 years’ experience, preference for candidates with an Electrical license or Tradesman/Apprentice Certificate and may require a PNG Driver's License.
